The first part of the
reflexive pronoun contains the same form as the possessive
determiner. For example, "myself"
contains the morpheme, "my,"
the possessive determiner. In
standard English, there is a change in the third person singular masculine form
of the
reflexive pronoun; the object pronoun, " him," is used to create the
reflexive pronoun "himself." In
Black English, the possessive determiner remains in third person
singular masculine form of the reflexive pronoun: John let hisself down by the
rope. |
