Speech acts are questions, statements, directives, and offers, and their responses.

They are a dialogue between two people.

Rose:  Who's this woman?

Jack:  Uh--She was a one-legged prostitute.

Rose:  Oh--Yes!  You draw very well.

Jack:  Look!  This is a woman I called Madame Bijoux.

Rose:  She's wearing all of her jewelry.

Jack:  Yeah.  She'd come into the tavern every night.
